Quiet Japan Sanpo is filmed using a small and simple setup designed for quiet walking videos.

I prefer lightweight gear that allows me to move freely while capturing the natural atmosphere of each place — including ambient sounds such as wind, birds, footsteps, and the subtle sounds of everyday life in Japan.

Below is the equipment currently used to film and edit videos for this channel.

Camera

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (Creator Combo)

Most videos on this channel are filmed with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo.

This camera is ideal for walking videos because it combines a compact body with a built-in 3-axis gimbal, which keeps footage smooth while moving. The 1-inch sensor also provides excellent image quality and performs well in low light.

For quiet street walks, temples, and nature paths, this small camera allows filming without drawing attention, which helps preserve the calm atmosphere of the location.

The Creator Combo also includes useful accessories such as a mini tripod, wide-angle lens, and wireless microphone.

Accessories

A few simple accessories are used when filming.

  • Mini tripod – useful for stable shots or when placing the camera down for a moment
  • Wide-angle lens – included in the Creator Combo and helpful for capturing wider scenery
  • MicroSD card – for recording high-quality video
  • Portable power bank – for longer shooting sessions

This setup keeps the gear minimal so filming stays easy and flexible while walking.

Audio

Quiet Japan Sanpo focuses on natural environmental sound.

The built-in microphones on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 usually capture ambient sounds clearly, including:

  • wind through trees
  • birds
  • footsteps on stone paths
  • distant city sounds

When needed, the wireless microphone included in the Creator Combo can be used.

Editing

Videos are edited using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Editing is kept simple in order to preserve the natural atmosphere of each walk.

Typical editing steps include:

  • trimming footage
  • adjusting color and exposure
  • balancing ambient sound
  • adding minimal location text

Filming Philosophy

Quiet Japan Sanpo is not about fast travel or busy sightseeing.

The goal of this channel is to capture quiet moments of everyday Japan — peaceful streets, temple paths, riversides, and small details that are easy to miss when traveling quickly.

Filming is done with minimal equipment and minimal interference so the natural atmosphere of each place can be experienced as it is.

I hope these videos allow viewers to relax and enjoy a calm walk through Japan.
